recycle bin

rovr can send files to the OS’s native recycle bin instead of deleting them outright, and comes with a built-in browser to inspect, restore, or purge what’s in there.

on the delete confirmation screen, choose “trash” instead of “delete” to move the selection to the recycle bin rather than removing it permanently.

  • pressing d (or your configured keybind) trashes the selection instead of deleting it

see keybindings for the full list of delete-related binds.

a "Trash" pin is added to the pinned sidebar by default, above your other pinned folders.

  • click the “Trash” pin, or highlight it and press enter, to open the recycle bin browser instead of navigating into a directory

the browser lists every trashed entry with its icon, original location, deletion time, and size. selection works the same as the file list (space to toggle, v to select a range, and so on).

action default vim sane description
restore r r r restore the selected entries to their original location
purge x x D permanently delete the selected entries
empty E E E permanently empty the entire recycle bin
cancel c / escape c / escape escape close the browser

customize the recycle bin browser’s keybinds in your configuration file:

[keybinds.trash]
restore = ["r"]
purge = ["x"]
empty = ["E"]
cancel = ["c", "escape"]

these are separate from the delete keybinds used on the delete confirmation screen.
