Okay, so this isn’t going to be a rant, just some thoughts.
I recently discovered graphite, before the acquisition by Cursor.
Graphite is a code review platform that is well integrated with GitHub, and has a really nice UI for code reviews.
- Graphite is able to casually handle massive Pull Requests with ease, something that GitHub struggles with. [ https://github.com/orgs/community/discussions/10830 ]
- Graphite’s UI is much more modern and sleek compared to GitHub’s code review UI.
So with the Cursor acquisition, I’m a bit concerned on the path that they may take Graphite, similar to how Anthropic bought oven-sh/bun.
Cursor is basically a VSCode fork with AI features, and I don’t see how Graphite fits into that. At least Anthropic buying Bun makes sense, since Bun is the backend for Claude-Code and opencode is threatening their existence.
I genuinely hope that Graphite doesn’t become enshitified.
